Let’s get real for a second: if you’re an elected official, a political candidate, or a lobbyist, it is your duty to create content.

You didn’t sign up for this role to hide in the background. You’re here to make an impact, right? To influence policies, sway public opinion, and lead by example.

Yet, what blows me away is how many people in positions of power don’t even use social media.

They don’t create content, and frankly, they seem to have no clue how important it is to get their message out there consistently.

In a world full of noise, with constant distractions and a never-ending stream of information, you have to break through and stand out.

You have to be in control of your narrative. Think about it—if you’re not speaking up, someone else is speaking for you. If you’re not actively engaging with your audience, you’re leaving votes, support, and credibility on the table.

Why Content Creation is Non-Negotiable for Political Figures

If you’re a lobbyist, governor, state legislator, county commissioner, or anyone in between, here’s the truth: you need to be creating content.

This isn’t about mastering some social media hack or gimmick. It’s about being influential, period. You want to be an influencer?

Then influence. Tell the world who you are, what you stand for, and why people should care.

Lobbyists are the original influencers.

Politicians are public servants. But here’s the kicker: if people don’t know what you’re doing, why should they support you?

You can’t sit back and hope your policies speak for themselves. You need to speak for yourself, directly to the people.

What blows my mind is working in Florida politics, especially around the Florida Legislature in Tallahassee, and seeing how many elected officials don’t even use social media!

They’ve been given a platform, a voice, and a responsibility to lead, yet they’re letting that platform go to waste by not creating content.

Content Creation is Your Responsibility

If you’re a lobbyist, your job is to influence decision-makers—so why aren’t you building an online presence to amplify your voice?

If you’re a state legislator or a county commissioner, you were elected to serve the people—so why aren’t you telling them how you’re doing that every single day?

Your constituents deserve to know what you’re working on, where you stand, and what your vision is. If you’re not the one telling them, how can you expect them to care?

Creating content isn’t some optional add-on to your job. It’s essential.

It’s your duty.

The public is more connected than ever, and if you’re not showing up online, you’re essentially invisible to the people you’re supposed to be serving.

Influence Comes From Consistency

If you want to be an influencer, it’s simple: be influential.

Speak to your audience, engage with your community, and be present where they are—online. Post about the issues you care about, share the work you’re doing, and be transparent about your process.

You’ll find that by creating content consistently, you’re always ahead of the curve.

You’re not reacting to what others say about you—you’re leading the conversation.

And that’s how you truly influence.

A Challenge to All Elected Officials and Lobbyists: Start Creating Content Today

So, to all the elected officials, lobbyists, candidates, and political commentators reading this: start creating content now.

Don’t wait.

The longer you stay silent, the more you allow others to control your narrative. If you’re serious about being a leader, then step up and take control of how the world sees you.

If you’re ready to start influencing the conversation, but you don’t know where to begin, that’s where I come in.

I’ve worked in Florida politics, and I know what it takes to build a strong, impactful presence online. I can help you create the kind of content that not only tells your story but gets results.
